Richard E. Creel

I was born and reared in Biloxi, Mississippi, on the Gulf Coast. Graduated from Biloxi Highschool in '57, Millsaps College in '61 (B.A.), Yale Divinity School in '65 (M.Div.), and Southern Illinois University in '69 (Ph.D.). Taught philosophy and religion for 30 years at Ithaca College in upstate New York. Served as chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religion and as president of the New York State Philosophical Association. Published many articles and three books while at Ithaca College: Religion & Doubt (Prentice-Hall), Divine Impassibility (Cambridge University Press), Thinking Philosophically (Blackwell Publishers). After my wife Diane (also an educator) and I retired to Biloxi in 2002, I wrote and published Love of Jesus: The Heart of Christianity (Resource Publications) and co-edited Magnolia Blossoms and Afternoon Tea (short stories with a southern theme).
