Charles E. Henderson, PhD, American psychologist, neuroscientist, clinician.

Ancient History: Listed in Who’s Who in Science and Engineering(5th Ed.). Born in Texas, raised in Oklahoma and Colorado. Lettered in football and boxing, solo clarinet in band; started working as a musician in dives and dance halls at age 15. Flunked out of college, joined the Army for a couple of years (infantry first, then musician in Europe: 8th Division Band, 7th Army Symphony, 357th Special Services – all in Europe). Worked in sales and sales management after the Army, set some still-unbroken national sales records (in Washington, DC; New York; Denver, Colorado). Retired from selling after 15 years to become a doctor kind of guy.

Education Stuff: Attended Georgetown University, University of New Mexico, University of Colorado (Boulder), University of Denver. BA in psychology (University of Colorado); did graduate work in anthropology (University of New Mexico); MA and Ph.D. in psychology/human communication (University of Denver). Worked as a psychologist (Title VI, government; director clinical services, Biocentrix Institute); research director and teacher, various universities and colleges. Published 12 books and counting, a number of research papers and convention presentations. Took early retirement to get some rest, ended up working harder than ever. Spend most of my time with continuing research and writing.

Conducted personal development seminars across the United States for more than 40,000 participants.

Research areas focused on subliminal perception and communication, suggestion, neuroscientific and cognitive function research with an emphasis on consciousness, the cognitive and neural nature of hypnosis, effects of hypnosis and suggestion on psychological processes, and the phenomenology of symptom based disorders and their amelioration through applied programs of hypnotic suggestion and self-hypnotic autosuggestion. Early experiences in first career of music, then sales and sales management, provided impetus for research into related practical areas and improvement applications in selling, persuasion, creativity and problem solving paradigms.
