Eileen Stukane

Eileen Stukane was born in New York City but after a childhood in New Jersey, raced back to the city of her birth, where she always felt she belonged. At home in NYC, she worked as a writer and editor at the women's magazines Good Housekeeping, Cosmopolitan, and Self, was the coauthor of four books about women's health, the author of The Dream Worlds of Pregnancy. Later on, she wrote Running on Two Different Tracks, an ebook memoir about her quest to find the girl who would become her daughter, a joyful quest that was almost derailed by an opposing family mystery. Now she has documented another surprising life experience in The House That Held Everything, to be published by Bloomsbury Publishing in November 2025. An unexpected family inheritance led to a shocking house of hoarding and a year-long quest to understand the deep connection between humans and their objects. The possessions of her departed relatives came alive in her hands, as author Eileen Stukane became a detective of the deceased. Mysteries unfolded, secrets revealed themselves, in this first-person memoir, The House That Held Everything. Follow her emotional journey as she is horrified by the hoarded rooms she once knew as tasteful and functioning, but remains committed to understanding what made everything change.
