Ailsa Cox is the author of Writing Short Stories, now in its third edition. Other books include Alice Munro, a short study of her fiction, and Reading Alice Munro's Breakthrough Books, co-authored with J.R. 'Tim' Struthers, Corinne Bigot and Catherine Sheldrick Ross. She has published numerous essays on Munro and other fiction writers, including Katherine Mansfield, Malcolm Lowry, Jon McGregor and Daisy Johnson. Her own short stories have been widely published, most recently in the mini-collection, Precipitation, with images from Patricia Farrell (Confingo Press). Based in Northern England, she is Professor Emerita in Short Fiction at Edge Hill University, UK. She is Associate Director of the European Network for Short Fiction Research, and the founder of the Edge Hill Prize for a published short story collection.
