William G. Doerner

Bill Doerner joined the faculty in the College of Criminology & Criminal Justice at Florida State University in 1977. He retired from there after 40 years of service. Bill also worked as a part-time patrol officer with the Tallahassee Police Department from 1980 until 2009. He was a member of the Board of Directors for the National Organization of Victim Assistance, was the Founding President of the Florida Network of Victim/Witness Services, and is the past director of the FSU Program in Criminal Justice. In addition to several teaching awards, he is a previous editor of the "American Journal of Criminal Justice," the recipient of the "Outstanding Educator of the Year" award from the Southern Criminal Justice Association, winner of the "John P. J. Dussich Award" from the American Society of Victimology, and has received other professional accolades. An article that he and his son published during 2012 in "Policing: An International Journal of Police Strategies & Management" was designated one of four outstanding papers produced by the journal that year.
