Alla Efimova

Alla Efimova, Ph.D., is an art historian, curator, and writer. After two decades in academia and museums, Efimova founded KunstWorks, an agency with the mission to honor and promote challenging, underrepresented, marginalized yet crucially important work by unconventional artists of the late 20th century. Thanks to KunstWorks artworks by, among others, brilliant older women, young men who had perished in the AIDS epidemic, and African-American quilters found homes in the major museums around the country. Efimova shares her expertise with the boards of local and national art organizations.

Efimova published several books and catalogs and has taught at the University of California Berkeley, Santa Cruz, and Irvine as well as the San Francisco Art Institute. She lives in Berkeley, CA, where she writes about art, climbs the hills, and cycles.
