Victor E. Sower

Dr. Sower is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Operations Management at Sam Houston State University where he taught from 1990 to 2008. He has taught classes in the US, Mexico, and Germany. He is co-founder and President Emeritus of Sower & Associates LLC. He is a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality and is Certified as a Quality Engineer. He also is a member of APICS, the Academy of Management, DSI, ISM, ACS, AIChE, SWAM, SWDSI, and other professional organizations. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, an M.B.A. from Auburn University, and a Ph.D. in Operations Management from the University of North Texas. Dr. Sower is author or co-author of 9 books, numerous articles in refereed research journals, refereed conference proceedings, professional magazines, and conference presentations. He was the 1996 recipient of the SHSU Excellence in Teaching Award, the 2001 recipient of the SHSU Excellence in Research Award, and the 2008 recipient of the SHSU Excellence in Service Award. He was named a 2005 Piper Professor by the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation. In addition to his academic experience, he served as an officer in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps, and he has more than 18 years of experience in process engineering, engineering management, and general management of a manufacturing operation.
