James R. Lehning

I am Professor of History at the University of Utah, where I have taught since 1977. I specialize in the history of Modern Europe and especially Modern France. Early in my career, my research was on population and demographic history. Since then, I have written about the political culture of the French Republic, and about the history of European colonialism.
