I am Director of the Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism at Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland. I also write about the business of sports, sports in society and the adult-managed world of youth sports.

My most recent project, with journalist Jeff Barker, filmmaker Ken Eng and producer Josh Green: The Great China Baseball Hunt, a documentary film in progress on the race to develop the first big-league baseball player from Mainland China and the inspiring comeback story of MLB China talent scout Ray Chang.
