I trained for the sea as a Cadet on HMS Conway and then spent a lifetime at sea on a wide variety of ships From Passenger ships to Ice Class vessels to Search and Rescue ships.

I served in the Royal Naval Reserve for 35 years again on a wide variety of warships.I am a member of the Court of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners and a Younger Brother of Trinity House.

I was awarded the Merchant Navy Medal in 2010.

After 50 years at Sea with 35 years in command I retired and am now an Author

I live in West Sussex

I have written a number of Text books,such as 'In Command', 'Captaion's Legal' and the 'Complete Chief Officer'; all written under the name of 'Captain Michael Lloyd' and all published by Witherby Seamanship International. 'Devils Cauldron' is my first novel and is the first book of a trilogy. this was followed by the 'Broken Ship' the second book in the trilogy and 'Cruise Ship'. The last book published was 'Convoy Ship' and this will be followed by 'Pirate Ship', the last in the trilogy.

There are many nautical books written, mainly about the wooden ships of old or the Royal Navy, but I felt that it was time that a novel was written about the modern Merchant Navy. There are very few such books. Finally, there is more truth in the book that you would believe. What those are is my secret!
