David Price

David Hotchkiss Price is an historian and a scholar of early modern culture. He teaches at Vanderbilt University, where he is Professor of Jewish Studies, Religious Studies, History, and Art History.

Price specializes in early modern cultural history and has written or edited some ten books and scores of articles on a variety of topics, including Renaissance visual art, early modern theater and poetry, the Bible in the Reformation era, and the history of Christian-Jewish relations.

Before joining the Vanderbilt faculty in 2016, he served as a professor at Yale University, the University of Texas at Austin, Southern Methodist University, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His teaching focuses on European history, 1400-1650; history of the arts (visual and literary); Christian-Jewish relations; history of Christianity; and the history of the Bible (Jewish and Christian).
