Elaine E. Englehardt

Elaine E. Englehardt is the Distinguished Professor of Ethics at Utah Valley University (UVU) and Professor of Philosophy at Utah Valley University. She earned her PhD from the University of Utah with a specialty in ethics, communication and political philosophy. Her scholarly publications are in professional and practical ethics, including ten textbooks, and numerous articles. For the past forty years, she has taught professional and practical ethics courses at UVU as well as served in numerous administrative positions. She is credited with founding the “Ethics Across the Curriculum” movement in 1993, and the society and journal that accompany this effort. She has written and directed seven multi-year, national grants in ethics. Four large grants are from the Department of Education’s FIPSE, and three are from the National Endowment for the Humanities. She is a former co-editor of the journal Teaching Ethics and is currently the President of the Society for Ethics Across the Curriculum.
