Tama Starr's humorous essays about life as a small business owner have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Reader's Digest, Partisan Review, Reason Magazine, and elsewhere.
Starr's company, Artkraft Strauss, was the preeminent creator of Times Square's spectacular illuminated displays throughout the 20th century, including "lowering the ball" on New Year's Eve. Starr has also served as chair of Manhattan Community Board #5, president of the West Side Association of Commerce, and member of the Small Business and Agriculture Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
She has published three books and is working on three more. She lives in New York City.
