Dan Hicks

Dan Hicks is Curator and Professor of Contemporary Archaeology at Oxford University. His new book Every Monument Will Fall has been called by Professor Alice Robers as "bold and clear sighted", and by Professor Paul Gilroy as "an extraordinary intervention — this bold, provocative book is an indispensable resource".

His last book The Brutish Museums was described as "A startling act of conscience" by Ben Okri OBE, "A call to action" by Professor Bénédicte Savoy, "A real game-changer" by The Economist, "Destined to become an essential text" by The Sunday Times, and "A beautifully written, carefully argued book” by the Guardian. "It's difficult to argue that he is wrong”, claimed a full-page review in The Times.

The Brutish Museums was named one of the New York Times "Best Art Books of 2020".

Dan is a Fellow of St Cross College, Oxford, and Curator of World Archaeology at the Pitt Rivers Museum.
