Unnikrishna Pillai

Unnikrishna Pillai, is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at New York University (NYU). Dr. Pillai teaches Probability theory, Stochastic Processes, Detection and Estimation theory, Principles of Communication Theory, all catered to Electrical Engineering applications. Dr. Pillai joined the Electrical Engineering department of Polytechnic Institute of New York (Brooklyn Poly) in 1985 as an Assistant Professor after graduating from University of Pennsylvania with a PhD in Systems Engineering (1985), and prior to that from IIT, Kanpur, India with an MTech in Electrical Engineering (1982) and Banaras Hindu University Institute of Technology, India with a BTech in Electronics Engineering (1977). His research interests include system identification, adaptive signal processing, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging/moving target identification, radar signal processing and waveform design as well as Portfolio Optimization for risk minimization. He has coauthored five textbooks/monographs and four e-books, most of them related to electrical engineering. To enhance the student experience within the classroom he has created short video sessions (on You Tube) to complement (compensate) his lectures, wherein students can review key material and examples at leisure and work out problems before and after the class sessions.
