I first visited Timor-Leste (East Timor) in 2010 and it took me about five minutes to become enchanted with the place. I have been back every year since (except for the Covid period) giving communication workshops, researching the communication of agricultural information to low literacy subsistence farmers, learning the local (Tetun) language, and visiting different parts of the country. I began imagining a crime series set in Timor and involving the many myths, legends, and traditional beliefs still very much a part of the lived experience in Timor and this led to The Crocodile's Kill (Coffeetown Press, US, 2022) - the first in what will be a 6-part series.
I am a former journalist and university lecturer and I live in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, Australia. .
