Artist, writer, and scholar, Michael A. Chaney is Associate Professor of English at Dartmouth College, where he specializes in American and African American literature with an emphasis on slavery, race identity, and visual culture (comics/graphic novels). His academic essays may be found in such journals as American Literature, Callaloo, and Modern Fiction Studies. His flash fictions appear in Fourteen Hills, Wigleaf, and Epiphany, and are forthcoming from The Los Angeles Review, The Chattahoochee Review, and Diagram. He lives in Vermont.
