I’m an old hippie beach bum from Southern California; surfer, sailor, diver, observer of swimsuit changes. I’m a writer, photographer, and graphic artist. I’m also a life-long Naturist, and managed the first Clothing Optional Retreat in Malibu, California for five years.
My first book, “Sandstone Experience” was published the traditional way. New American Library bought paperback rights and sold hardcover rights to Crown Publishers. The book didn’t do well in hardcover because I couldn’t get the publisher to work with me on Marketing. The documentary movie, “Sandstone,” was released at the same time and the producers agreed to do a joint Marketing campaign but Crown said the book “…has to sell itself.” It did much better in paperback when I did radio and TV talk shows and lectured on a few college campuses. The book was on “Suggested Reading” lists.
When my second book, “Sandstone Redux” was ready for publishing, I looked at the traditional publishers and discovered the industry had changed completely. Publishers were only accepting manuscripts from agents and agents were harder to get than publishers had been. I decided to self-publish with createspace. The experience was very positive! The book was an extension of the first book, with a lot of additional material bringing my life up to the present and describing the effects Sandstone had on my lifestyle. The only problem was I picked the wrong title. Most people don’t even know what Redux means! So I did some editing and renamed it “Sandstone and Sex” and put it on Kindle. There will be a third edition of the book on Kindle shortly complete with photos and video clips.
I’m finishing my first novel, “Voyage to a New World” and will also put it on Kindle. I can only describe it as erotic sci-fi. My e-mail is tomhat43@gmail.com and if you’d like to chat, my Yahoo Messenger ID is gaia1933.
