Sherman Dorn

Sherman Dorn (1965- ) is an historian of education policy at Arizona State University and a co-winner of the 2017 Review of Research Award from the largest educational research society in the world, the American Educational Research Association. In his research, he has focused on how we defined dropping out of high school as a problem, how we think of public-private distinctions in education, how special education has evolved, how school accountability developed in the United States, and how we have defined schools as communities. Over more than 25 years working in colleges and universities, he has taught more than 2500 students at all levels in higher education, led academic units in two large public research universities, written or co-edited four books, learned and written about the history of education policy in the United States, and never been bored.
