E. Sandy Powell

In 2014 E. Sandy Powell celebrated her 25th anniversary as a children's author. Then with her tenth book out in January 2015, Powell tiptoed into adult fiction, autobiographically. Several of her early works addressed tough topics for children with some recognition nationally. "Daisy," for instance, on abuse, was chosen by the National Council for the Social Studies and the Children's Book Council. Powell wrote "Geranium Morning" about a child who deals with a parent's death and "A Chance to Grow" about a family who becomes homeless. Her first adult book reflected that writer's struggles. Readers asked for more, but Powell chose to walk on from the characters in "Alone and Gutsy, at 58" after only one book. In recent years though, delight and ease have filled Powell's writing life as she just completed a new feel-good series for seasoned readers: "through the lane to St. Anne ..." The final book Four came out in December 2017.

Besides 'living her dream' as a writer and a sometimes maker of selfie dance videos, Powell is simultaneously the glad glad glad mother of three grown kids over whom she has been 47-years-and-ongoing jubilant, on a daily basis: her dear son and daughters, with dears, daughter- and sons-in-law (yeah, she does get mushy over the lot), have not only created loving families, they've each in their sui generis made work lives they love, contributing greatly to their communities as well as enhancing their own lives and inspiring hers with passion for organic foods, exquisite furniture and spiritual practice, to name but a few of their cynosures. On a daily basis, you’ll find this Gram smiling in delight about, and whenever and in whatever ways possible with, her dear grandsons and granddaughter ... with twinkle in her eye for whomever she may have the joy of getting to know next in this or generations to come. ♥

Now at age 71 herself, Powell has also taken up sprinting ;-) . For more on her adult fiction series and other of Powell's works, including her giddy filming of the dance videos, and her contact info, go to www.esandypowell.com

And if you haven't yet bought and distributed copies of "Hope for our World ~ an ecological tale for children of all ages" to earth-lovers here there and everywhere, Sparky asks "What's stopping you?" and with big grin (and reference to the backstory for this series) "Why not!" Elena Raspopova's otters alone are worth treating others to hope.

Powell extends an open invitation for collaborators to help her translate "Hope for our World" into languages for readers worldwide, with her thanks and encouragement to "Get in touch, please!"
