My book "My Life Closed Twice: Surviving a Double Loss," describes the loss of my husband and son within 24 hours, and the road to rebuilding a new life following this tragedy.

I was a working mother when most women were not working outside the home. This frequently made me unpopular with friends and neighbors who thought my place should have been at home.

During my long career as a career counselor I helped college students to find jobs and make important career decisions. My book "Summer Jobs" is still used on some college campuses as a guide to finding jobs and interships.

As a human resources consultant I worked with hundreds of women and men who lost their jobs in corporate downsizings, helping them to write resumes and learn job-search skills.

Helping these individuals cope with the sometimes devastating effects of job loss helped me to cope with my own loss in losing my husband and son.

I grew up in a small town in New England, have lived in New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts and currently make my home in Ohio.
