DAYTON BEER: A HISTORY OF BREWING IN THE MIAMI VALLEY was released in 2019 by Arcadia Publishing. My current project is a deep dive into the world of 19th century brewers in Miamisburg, a Miami Valley town with a remarkable canal-era history. This project resulted from a desire to learn more about the early brewers I uncovered in Miamisburg while writing DAYTON BEER. Miamisburg has been my home for more than 40 years.

DAYTON BEER is my 16th book. I was an Ohio newspaper journalist for 34 years, including 21 years as military affairs/aviation writer for the Dayton Daily News. I took early retirement in January 2007 and held some post-retirement positions, including doing marketing and communications at Wright State University for a year and working as communications director for the National Aviation Heritage Alliance from October 2012 to August 2019.
