Brian Lysaght

Brian Lysaght was born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey, the son of a returning World War II combat veteran. He is a former federal prosecutor who now writes and practices law in Los Angeles. He has published four mystery thrillers, all of which have been well received: SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES (St. Martin's); SWEET DEALS (St. Martin's) ; EYE OF THE BEHOLDER ("Simon & Shuster); and LAST DANCE of the VIPER (Forge).

Publishers Weekly has highlighted his novels with starred reviews and has compared him to Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler and Ross McDonald. The New York Times reviewer Newgate Callendar has referred to them as "exciting fun". PW wrote that a "story told this well and this intelligently deserves a wide readership." Peter Straub wrote: "Here we have intelligence, craft and feeling brought together in a tremendously satisfying novel. Mr. Lysaght has just shouldered his way into the first rank of thriller writers." Richard North Patterson wrote that the novels were, "unusual in concept, persuasive and fast-moving in execution… A pleasure to read." Clive Cussler wrote "Brian Lysaght has proven himself a master of intrigue and suspense. EYE OF THE BEHOLDER rips along in a series of twists and deceptions that keep the reader engrossed until the last page."

Lysaght is a dual national of Ireland and the US, and is a qualified British solicitor in addition to his American bar membership. He. Is a trial lawyer, specializing in complex commercial litigation and white collar crime. This blend of influences creates tales that are sophisticated, intelligent and at times sexually smoldering. Booklist wrote that "the steamy, very appealing relationship" between his key characters propelled the novel forward."

Two unpublished works: A PERFECT DAY FOR A MURDER and OUT OF THE SHADOWS are in final preparation and will be published in 2014.
