Jyotsna Sreenivasan

My most recent book is THESE AMERICANS, a collection of short stories and a novella about Indian-Americans. I am also the author of the novel AND LAUGHTER FELL FROM THE SKY, as well as other books. I was selected as a Fiction Fellow for the 2021 Sewanee Writers' Conference. My short stories have been published in literary magazines and anthologies. I was a finalist for the 2014 PEN Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction, and received an Artist Fellowship Grant from the Washington, DC Commission on the Arts.

I was born and raised in northeastern Ohio. My parents are from India. I have an MA in English literature from the University of Michigan. I have lived in Washington, DC and Moscow, Idaho. Currently I live in Columbus, Ohio. My name is pronounced JOE-tsnah SHREE-nee-vah-sun. My nickname is "Jo".
