David Matthews

David Matthews has been a writer and journalist for nearly 30 years. He has authored five critically acclaimed books, including LOOKING FOR A FIGHT, which was shortlisted for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year prize, MAN BUYS DOG, and VOICES OF THE WINDRUSH GENERATION, and has ghosted and edited several other titles, including LETHAL FORCE (a memoir of controversial former Metropolitan Police marksman, Tony Long), TRIBES, which he penned for the UK’s Foreign Secretary, David Lammy MP, and THE DANCE, a biography of legendary EDM band, Faithless. His latest book, REBEL WITH A CAUSE is a riveting memoir of Island Records boss, Darcus Beese.

Aside from writing for myriad newspapers and publications, including the Observer, Sunday Times, Mail on Sunday and Esquire, David has presented and produced several groundbreaking and award-winning documentaries, including THE TROUBLE WITH BLACK MEN (BBC3), SOUTH AFRICA: SHOOT TO KILL (CURRENT TV), BATTY MAN (Channel 4), GANG LIFE (BBC2), MICHAEL JOHNSON: SURVIVAL OF THE FASTEST (Channel 4), HUTCH: HIGH SOCIETY’S FAVOURITE GIGOLO (Channel 4), GANGLAND (Channel 5), THE SEX BUSINESS (Channel 5), SECRETS OF A POLICE MARKSMAN (Channel 4) and BLACK NURSES: THE WOMEN WHO SAVED THE NHS (BBC4).

He currently spends his time between London, Ibiza and Barbados with his family and dog, Freckles.
