Dorsey E. Levell is an author, motivational speaker, workshop presenter, fundraising executive, and founder of seventeen nonprofit human services corporations. For nearly fifty years he has served churches, healthcare organizations, higher education, and nonprofits with his positive attitude, homespun humor, and practical calls to action.
He is co-author of Dumb Luck or Divine Guidance and The Pastor's Guide to Fund-raising Success. He is founding president of Community Hospices of America Foundation, Inc. He was founding executive director of the Council of Churches of the Ozarks Foundation, Inc., and founding executive director of the Council of Churches of the Ozarks. During his thirty-one years with the Council, he created fifteen human services programs for the Council including a childcare facility, regional food bank, rehabilitation treatment center for convicted felons, clothing distribution center, and an alcohol rehabilitation treatment program.
Among his many awards are Humanitarian of the Year, named by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks; Springfieldian of the Year, named by the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce; Outstanding Minister of the Year, named by his alma mater, United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio; and Outstanding Fundraising Executive, named by the Springfield chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
He is a retired U.S. Army chaplain and colonel, an ordained minister of the United Methodist Church, a former pastor, and was a charter member of the Springfield National Speakers Guild.
