Jacquetta Megarry

Jacquetta Megarry is a late-onset long-distance walker resident in central Scotland. On her first long walk, the West Highland Way, she found the traditional design of guidebook impractical in rain and wind, so she created Rucksack Readers® – guidebooks in a new, rucksack-friendly format.

Since 2000, she has written or coauthored 14 other titles in the series, including the Rob Roy Way which she co-devised in 2001. She has edited a further 16 Rucksack Readers® and walks every route that she publishes, some repeatedly – to clarify route directions and to gain first-hand comparative experience of all the walks.

She has summited Mount Kilimanjaro by four different routes, and completed high-altitude treks also in Nepal, Peru and Morocco. Her experience on Aconcagua led her to devise the Rucksack Pocket Summits series for "seven summiteers". Her website is at www.rucsacs.com.
