Malcolm Barber

I am a British historian with particular knowledge of the Second World War and European medieval military history, especially the Knights Templar and the Crusades. My interests extend to the mysteries of the Languedoc region of Southern France involving the Cathar/Albigensian movement. This includes the lost treasures of the Second Temple which had been looted by the Legions of Titus, following their suppression of the Jewish uprising in AD 70, and taken to Rome. Over 300 years later, the Germanic tribes, growing stronger, marched on Rome and the Visigoths, sacking the Eternal City in 410 AD, carried off the treasures of the Second Temple. Along with an accumulation of gold bullion acquired as they rampaged through Europe, they gravitated to Southern France and settled in the Languedoc region where the treasure was hidden and lost for over a millennium.
