Jenny A. Moon

Jenny (Jennifer) Moon had a wide ranging career, starting with a Zoology degree and wandering through work in health education, counselling and the development of credit systems in higher education. These roots led to a fascination with aspects of teaching and learning, and she explored her thinking in writing nine books and running workshops around the world. In her last years of formal work, at Bournemouth University, she veered her interests towards the role of story in life and learning, writing 'Using Story in Higher Education and Professional Development', which allowed her to think about what a story might be. She also developed skills in oral storytelling and now tells hundreds of stories a year at events in schools and care homes etc. In amongst these activities, Jenny turned her writing interests towards the writing of fiction. She completed a Masters in Creative Writing (the hardest of all of her six degrees!) and has published 'Folk Tales of Rock and Stone' (The History Press). In this book she has rewritten folk tales from around the world and has been able to integrate some education about geology, history and culture. She has also been able to share her enthusiasm for rock and stone, those objects all around us, that have so many varied stories that start at the beginning of time and will last long after us. The inspiration for the book came from her involvement with Jurassic Coast Trust (as an ambassador for the trust) and the need to write stories for associated events.
