Stephen L. Burns

Stephen L. Burns has been selling short fiction the the SF Magazine since the mid-eighties, appearing at least one a year. At last check 42 of his stories have run in that magazine. His work also appeared in early editions of Marion Zimmer Bradley's SWORD AND SORCERESS and SPELLS OF WONDER anthologies.

Two of his novels were published by Roc Books, FLESH AND SILVER (1999) and CALL FROM A DISTANT SHORE (2000). The first novel won an award from the Baltimore SF Society. The second was a finalist for (but not the ultimate winner of) the 2000 Philip K. Dick Award for Best Original Paperback Novel.

In an attempt to keep up with new publishing realities, he is slowly shifting over to getting his new novels out as e-Books.

The Fantasy novel FESTIVAEL is the first novel he has released as an e-book, the SF novel ZERO DAY BABY also now available. A third book, BLOOD AND BREAD should be on sale by the end of February.

Stephen makes most of his living as a caretaker and builder/restorer/repairer of old summer cottages. He and his wife, herbalist Sue-Ryn Burns live on an island in the St. Lawrence River with a rescue dog, a rescue cat, and various critters from their wildlife rehabilitation practice.
