Jack R. Nerad began his career at 17 as a sportswriter for three Chicago-area newspapers and he hasn't stopped writing since. A prolific writer of true-crime and auto-related books, his most recent crime novel is Only One Thing Stays the Same, a suspense thriller in the style of James M. Cain, one of Nerad's writing heroes. Another of Nerad's crime thrillers, Dance in the Dark, was published to great reviews in 2022
Perhaps Nerad's best-known book is Fatal Photographs, the definitive true-crime examination of the notorious bathing suit model murder case that rocked Hollywood. Because of its explosive nature, it is now being considered as a potential limited-run streaming series. In this famous case, the murderer was Nerad's co-worker.
In a completely different vein, Nerad's latest non-fiction title is is The GR Factor: Unleashing the Undeniable Power of the Golden Rule. It outlines a potent philosophy for business and personal success.
The former editor of Motor Trend magazine, Nerad is the author of several auto-related titles including The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Buying or Leasing a Car and The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Hybrids and Alternative Fuel Vehicles.
Nerad has won numerous awards and honors for his work, including a Maggie nomination for Best Feature Article of the Year, the magazine industry equivalent of an Oscar nomination. The host of the Sports Byline Radio Network show "America on the Road," Nerad is former Vice President of the North American Car of the Year jury, President Emeritus of the Motor Press Guild, and he's an active member of Mystery Writers of America. Always writing, he is completing a new crime novel that is due to be published next year.
