He received international attention after the US Capitol riot of 1/6/2021 when it was realised that his 2006 novel, Bat Day, had predicted with uncanny accuracy the election of a buffoonish president obsessed with the possibilities of communication via the internet, who incites a popular uprising that results in the Capitol being burned and his removal from office.
