Miriam Erick

Miriam Erick is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist and was the high-risk obstetrical dietitian at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston for over 37 years. Caring for the sickest of the "morning sick" women-- those with hyperemesis gravidarum- she developed an "organoleptic" approach to feeding these women- using characterists from food. Her various food lists are detailed in the first book on morning sickness nutrition management in 1993 when she published, "No More Morning Sicknkess: a survival guide for pregnant women". which has helped thousands of women across the globe improve their nutritional intake. Subsequently Miriam published an expanded book, Managing Morning Sickness: a survival guide for pregnant women, in 2004. In her 2019 book, Take Two Crackers and Call ME in the morning!, Miriam covers issues of hyperemesis gravidarum with over 37 cartoons depicting the life of a woman with this problem and multiple helpful suggestions. Miriam is active in the International Colloquium on Hyperemesis Gravidarum (ICHG) which meets every 2 years in Europe and speaks and writes on the topic frequently. She has a private nutrition practice in the metro Boston area.
