Copperplate etching, engraving and stipple engraving, intaglio print. Original hand colouring, probably heightened with eggwhite containing substance fir shiny impression. Paper: vellin type. on paper. Size in cm: The overall size is ca. 18.5 x 14.5 cm. The image size is ca. 14.5 x 9 cm. Size in inch: The overall size is ca. 7.3 x 5.7 inch. The image size is ca. 5.7 x 3.5 inch.Plate: 'Spherococcos crispus. - Krauser Wurmtang.' (Algae species.) Three leaves with text (German) included. Exact ed. unknown. This rare and delicate plate originates from: 'Hand-Atlas sammtlicher medicinisch-pharmaceutischer Gewachse.', by dr. Wilibald Artus, published in Jena by F. Mauke 1848 and later ed. This botanical work was published for use by pharmacists, doctors and druggists. Although at least 7 editions have been published, all must have appeared in small numbers, as this work is very seldom offered for sale. Pictura Prints offers mostly antique prints, art, maps and books. Since 2004 the owner Peter Cornelissen started Theprintscollector and has been in business as a print and book seller. In 2018 he decided to further develop his personal collection through 'Pictura Prints'. Peter has a background in design and landscape architecture and holds a degree in paper restauration. He holds shop in Overasselt, a small town on the Maas river near Nijmegen, The Netherlands, which can be visited by appointment. He is a member of the Dutch Association of Antiquarians (NVVA) and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB).

We ship worldwide and package our items meticulously. We carry an umbrella insurance policy. Our shipment rates are based on shipments up to 1 kg. For heavier shipments we will contact you with a quote. Currently our surcharge for international shipments over 1 kg is 9,14 euro / kg. In addition POST NL temporarly charges 3,60 euro per kg due to CORONA related logistics. We ship by registered mail through POST NL. Expedited shipping or shipment through another carrier is available on request at a possible surcharge.
