Vogt, Carl (1817 Gießen - 1895 Genf; dt. Naturforscher, Zoologe, Schriftsteller; ab 1847 Professor in Gießen, ab 1852 in Genf; 1861 Leiter einer Expedition zum Nordkap; zahlreiche Arbeiten zur Anatomie und Physiologie sowie geologische Untersuchungen. Gehört mit Ludwig Büchner und J. Moleschott zu den Verfechtern des Materialismus und Darwinismus. Er war ferner Abgeordneter für Gießen in der Nationalversammlung in Frankfurt/Main).
