Valerie Bond Study of a bone or rock with ribbon still life, in ink and wash, drawn on buff coloured paper. On verso Drawing by Valerie Bond, 1945 with the price £5 15s. , a fortune in those days. Sheet has been laid onto card toning with two rust marks from pins in top corners margin and lower margin a little grubby else good. Sheet Size 22 x 24cm (8.5 x 9.5 inches) Card Size 27 x 34cm (10.5 x 13 inches) This drawing was in the collection of Sven Berlin. Valerie Bond is known to have studied with Bernard Leach from 1945-46. She would have met Sven during this period. I suspect as like most women artists of that period, and even today, welfare of husbands and family came first in their life and her art career stopped, although she was a talented artist.
