A scarce full set of the charming and original Caldecott illustrations (12) to "Mr. Oakball's Winter in Florence", extracted from The Graphic magazine: "In December we found Oakball lolling on a bridge over the Arno. To overcome lowness of spirits and improve his appetite his mother had sent him alone to try the light climate and interesting life of Florence." A really attractive set of delicately coloured illustrations to this simple story, wryly observed in Caldecott's inimitable style. Two pictures have an "R.C." and the final scene is signed "R. Caldecott". Four large pages (15 in.- high pages) of illustrations, the others having printed text (a story); good quality cream paper ensures no show-through in normal position. Overall the condition is excellent with a little finger smudging to page one and tiny corner turns; the pages have been in bound condition for most of their life.
