This is a collection of thirteen original pieces of Artwork by the book artist and children?s author Gareth Floyd. The artwork was created to illustrate a charming short Children?s Science Fiction story titled ?The Bionic Moles? which was broadcast on the British BBC Television Series Jackanory on 3rd January 1980 and read by the actor Martin Jarvis. The story was written by a Clare Moseley, who was then aged just 9, the tale was a competition winning story, where the winning entrant had their story read out on national television. BBC Records show the story only lasted 15 minutes in the broadcast, and it does appear that it was never actually published in book form, so I just have the pictures to interpret the plot. It seems that Giant Moles, ?The Bionic Moles?, have appeared in England and are causing devastation across the country, the first image depicting London buildings, Electric powerlines and Nelson?s Column leaning at alarming angles with giant mole hills everywhere, other illustrations show flooding, presumably caused by the giant mole?s activities. The problems with the continuing devastation seem to be finally resolved when a young boy who appears to be able to converse with the moles, and seemingly manages to persuade them to leave England, the final image shows the moles swimming out to sea toward the sunset after reaching some sort of agreement and shaking the boy?s hand. The thirteen pieces of artwork mounted on card are of two sizes, four are a larger format measuring 21.5 inches by 15.75 inches approx., the rest measure 14 inches by 10.75 inches approx. two have rough sketches by the artist on the reverse, and are all captioned with Camera Shot Numbers, the numbers from 1 ? 21, obviously there are only 13 illustrations in the set, so I presume the other missing shot numbers would have been when the camera was on the actor Martin Jarvis who was reading the story, which is how I remember the show myself from watching the series when I was a youngster. Apart from minor signs of wear, with a couple of small surface abrasions and light marking to reverse, all are in good condition as seen. this is a heavier item, overseas shipping costs will be higher than the basic standard quote.
