About this Item
Letterpress poem (25.5x19cm) tipped into black boards (29.5x22.5cm). Opposite the poem is an original abstract painting (21.5x14cm) by Hirschman. Boards lettered in silver and internally lined with red cloth. This work was limited to 75 numbered copies, of which this is No. 37. Both the poem and the painting are signed by Hirschman. Miniscule circular indention to top board with some spots of rubbing, mostly along spine. Near Fine. A wonderfully composed poem filled with imagery and references to the Occupy Wall Street movement and the plight of Detroit. Jack Hirschman (1993-2021) was San Francisco's fourth poet laureate (January 2006 - January 2008). He was a prolific American poet and social activist, known for his "radical engagement with both poetry and politics." Hirschman, a lesser-known yet nonetheless influential voice of the Beat Generation, supported several social movements, including the anti-war movement and the struggle for Black liberation.
