Finely hand-coloured copper engravings. View of the bridge over the river Elbe, Dresden, long since been replaced. 'Vue du pont de L Elbe a Dresde. chez Meser a Dresde rue du chateau 313. ' Size: Roughly 113 x 155mm. View is of Dresden as seen from Bruhl Garden. 'Dresde prise du jardin de Bruhl.chez Meser a Dresde, Schlossgasse 313'. Size roughly 108 x 153mm. Brühl?s Terrace was famous ? it was nicknamed ?The Balcony of Europe?. The terrace was built in the 16th century as part of Dresden?s fortification. It got its name from Count Heinrich von Brühl, a powerful minister who built his palace and gardens on the terrace. The original Brühl?s Terrace was destroyed in the 1945 bombing of Dresden; the terrace of today was built to resemble the original terrace. The prints are attached to thick paper which has been folded horizontally between the two prints. The prints have been unevenly trimmed. Remnants of blue album paper to rear.
