Item description from seller

This strong stipple engraving is from Joseph Roques's "Phytographie medicale.". The work was published in Paris in 1835 by Cormon et Blanc. The engravings were completed by E. Hocquart. The work depicted medicinal, poisonous, and narcotic plants as well as their remedies. --- Joseph Roques (1772-1850) was a French physician and botanist. He studied at the University of Montpellier and stayed at their faculty of medicine and military hospital. He went on to become one of the foremost botanists of his time with his most important works on medical phytography, fungi, and native & exotic plants. --- The work is in very good to excellent condition overall. There may be a faint water stain at the extremeties or corners but mostly unobtrusive. There may be a few minor imperfections or faint marks to be expected with age. Please review the image carefully for condition and contact us with any questions. --- Paper Size ~ 8 1/2" by 11 7/8".
