Add to basket"Botanical print" published by Samuel Curtis (British - 1779-1860). Hand colored engraving. "- C. M. Curtis del -" at lower left - the artist is C. M. Curtis. "Swan Sc" - at lower right - the engraver is Swan."Pub. by S. Curtis Walworth May 1, 1827" at center below. Original printed in 1827. Samuel Curtis was a noted horticulturalist. In Walworth near London was the most noted firm specializing in florists' flowers, established by James Maddoch the Elder in the 18th century - probable location where an example of the the plant was available. #2739 in upper right corner indicates it was this numbered print from Curtis's Botanical Magazine, May 1827 issue. Two folds now flattened at center. Faint offset text visible on back mentions Labellum. Matted to 14" x 18". Paper size: 9 1/8" x 11 5/8". Very good condition.
