A 15 x 10 cm postcard sent by Edward Bawden from Milan to fellow Bardfield artist Michael Rothenstein. The card is in Very Good++ condition with just a tiny amount of rubbing at the upper corners. Bawden has written on the verso : I am pleased to hear that you have been successfully unstitched: by now I hope you are on your feet'�.presumably a reference to Rothenstein s divorce from his wife Duffy. Bawden goes onto say.'The Biennale was worth coming to see. England seemed to be the only country unrepresented. This card is a bit old fashioned, but the latest and most violent forms of painting - of which there is a very great deal - would appear to have no sale in postcard reproduction, Best wishes Edward .
