Description: This scarse copperplate engraved print originates from: 'Aldernouwkeurigste Verhandelinge der geschiedenissen van het Oud Testament .', published in Antwerp by Cornelis Martinus Spanoghe in 1784 or the companion to this work is 'Aldernouwkeurigste Verhandelinge der geschiedenissen van het Nieuw Testament .', published in Antwerp by Cornelis Martinus Spanoghe in 1783. (translation: Very correct discourse of the history of the Old testament / New Testament. This work contains many engravings and suites of engravings that date back to the sixteenth century, reprinted in 1783-84.Artists and Engravers: Cornelis Martinus Spanoghe (1758-1829), was a Flemish (Belgium) publisher, printer, poet and political writer born in Doel. Many of the plates in this work are engraved by Philippus Galle (1537-1612), Theodorus Galle (1571-1633) or Joannes Galle (1600-1676), all reknown Flemish engravers. This plate engraved after Martin de Vos, originally published by Joannes Galle. Condition: Excellent. General age related toning and light staining from handling.
