Provenance: Francois Buffa, drystamp (not in Lugt) Portrait of the author and politician Maurits Cornelis van Hall. Engraving on wove paper. Made by 'Johannes Philippus de Lange' after 'Johan Coenraad Hamburg'. Johannes Philippus Lange (1810-1849) was active as engraver and draughtsman. He was a pupil of Pieter Velijn. Johan Coenraad Hamburger (1809-after 1871) worked as a lithographer, photographer and portraitpainter. Fair, given age. Ample margins, foxing, some waterstaining and browning. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. The overall size is ca. 25.6 x 34.7 cm. The image size is ca. 21.8 x 29.8 cm.
