Antique print, titled: 'David Hume.' - Portrait of the philosopher David Hume. Published by James S. Virtue. David Hume. Stipple engraving on Wove paper. Made by 'William Holl' after 'Allen Ramsay'. William Holl (1807-1871). Allan Ramsay (1713-1784) worked as a portrait painter. He made several trips to Italy and after the crippling of his right arm started writing. Very good, given age. Ample margins, some foxing. Printer s crease in middle of print, hardly visible. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
