Copperplate engraving on a vellin type hand laid paper with watermark. Original hand colouring. on paper. Size in cm: The overall size is ca. 21.5 x 26.5 cm. The image size is ca. 17 x 20 cm. Size in inch: The overall size is ca. 8.5 x 10.4 inch. The image size is ca. 6.7 x 7.9 inch.Plate: Poissons XIII. This plate shows various fish species: 1. Common Carp- 2. Carp - 3. Barbel - 4. Zander or Pike-perch - 5. Common Bream. Tekst /description page in Dutch included. This engraved print originates from a very rare unknown Dutch work. The plates are similar to the plates in the famous German work: 'Bilderbuch fur Kinder.' (Transl.: picture book for children.), by F.J. Bertuch, published 1790-1830 in Weimar. This could be Dutch edition of this work (no references found), or a work that used the Bertuch plates. Plate titles are in Dutch. Age c. 1800.Artists and Engravers: Friedrich Johann Justin Bertuch (1747-1822 German) was a German publisher and patron of the arts. Most plates engraved by Lehman fec.Condition: Excellent given age. General age related toning and light staining. Paper edges a bit brownish and with occasional small tears and thumbing. In 2018 he decided to further develop his personal collection through 'Pictura Prints'. Peter has a background in design and landscape architecture and holds a degree in paper restauration. He holds shop in Overasselt, a small town on the Maas river near Nijmegen, The Netherlands, which can be visited by appointment. He is a member of the Dutch Association of Antiquarians (NVVA) and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB).

We ship worldwide and package our items meticulously. We carry an umbrella insurance policy. Our shipment rates are based on shipments up to 1 kg. For heavier shipments we will contact you with a quote. Currently our surcharge for international shipments over 1 kg is 9,14 euro / kg. In addition POST NL temporarly charges 3,60 euro per kg due to CORONA related logistics. We ship by registered mail through POST NL. Expedited shipping or shipment through another carrier is available on request at a possible surcharge.
