Add to basketAntique print. It shows: an engraved headpiece, showing a large number of cavaliers / cavalry men being taught about the exterior of a horse. Original etching/engraving on a verge type handlaid paper. Description: This print originates from: Francois Robichon de la Guerniere's 'Ecole de Cavalerie. Contenant la connoissance, l'instruction, et la conservation du cheval.' (Paris: Collombat, 1733). This is an important French book on the training and riding of the horse, detailing equitation, veterinary treatment, and general horsemanship. It has become an important text for the Spanish Riding School of Vienna.Artists and Engravers: Engraved by J.P. Lebas after Ch. Parrocel. Jacques Philippe Le Bas (1707-1783) was a reknown French engraver. He was engraver to the Cabinet du Roi and produced numerous engravings after paintings. In total he produced around 500 works.Charles Parrocel (1688-1752) was a French painter and engraver, specialised in battle and hunting scenes. Condition: Very good, given age. A crease in the left edge of the sheet (from another, folded, plate was opposite it in the book). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor soiling from handling.
