Visual Art Material: Paper and Ink A highly unusual and rare 1932 American Folk Art typewriter art piece on typewriter paper made by Victorina Waldschmidt, Metamora, IL, age 12 - 13, measuring approximately 7 5/8 x 5 visible inches behind original early glass in its original frame measuring approximately 10 3/8 x 7 5/8 inches. In mostly black ink, with some red highlights, she notes use of only the letters W,F, and M but it does appear % was used as well. Ms. Waldschmidt was a sophomore at Bradley University, Peoria, IL, in 1942 (source: Polyscope yearbook) and played the piano at a Metamora Veterans Day Celebration in 1934. Second picture quality is low but shows its true tones without reflective sources. Day is observed around the village square by displays of American flags and white crosses. Through the years, the community has had different ways to remember November 11th, 1918. In 1934 a program was presented by the students of Metamora Township High School in cooperation with the local American Legion Post 89 at the High School. The event drew a capacity crowd for the two hours of varied entertainment. The Dramatics Club gave a play ??America Remembers ? depicting America ??s tribute to the memory of our war heroes. Piano selections were played by Victorine Waldschmidt. A medley of southern songs were sung by the Girl ??s Glee Club, accompanied by Miss Joyce Parker and under the direction of Miss Oda Johnston. Professor Ray J. Schertz, principal of the school introduced Glenwood Tanton, Commander who then introduced the speaker of the evening, J.B. Murphy of Bloomington, a district legion official. The program concluded with two vocal numbers entitled ??Trees ? and ??Send Me a Rose From the Homeland ? by Miss Eleanor Bachman, accompanied by Mr. Maxey. Taps were played by Bonita Schneider. Effects of cancellation
If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
