Item description from seller

Engraved by George Cram , 1888. Overall Size including text and borders : 21 3/4 x 13 1/2 ins. Actual Map Size: 11 3/4 x 18 1/8 ins. CONDITION: Folded in the middle with text on the back. . This historic map showcases the eastern part of Quebec and northern New Brunswick, with a focus on the Gulf of St. Lawrence and surrounding territories, providing a detailed view of administrative boundaries, natural geography, and settlement patterns. The map covers the Gaspé Peninsula, Anticosti Island, and the Gulf of St. Lawrence, delineating counties and townships with distinct color blocks and labeling key towns and settlements, particularly along the coastline and in southern regions. It highlights coastal areas, including bays, inlets, and peninsulas, and showcases the rugged, sparsely populated northern areas of Quebec, consisting of forests, rivers, and mountainous terrain. The southern section of the map reveals a denser network of towns and transportation routes, emphasizing the importance of rivers and their tributaries for transportation and settlement. The engraving style and paper offers a glimpse into the region's administrative organization and settlement during an earlier period, with the Gulf of St. Lawrence as a central feature highlighting the significance of maritime routes and coastal towns in the region's history and development. NOTE THE FOLLOWING BEFORE YOU PURCHASE: This is a GENUINE ANTIQUE VINTAGE 1880s MAP. It is NOT a modern reproduction, ie. a laser scan, photocopy, etc. It is the original from the antique or vintage atlas or book publication. This map was published on the date mentioned, or circa the date mentioned at the top of the page. The map I have for sale, like many antique vintage prints and maps that you see online, originate from an antique vintage book or atlas publication. The publication may not always be known. If you have any questions, emails are welcome. Shipped Unmatted.
